WIC Eligibility and Rules in Tennessee:
To be eligible for WIC in Tennessee, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Category:
Be a pregnant woman, a breastfeeding woman up to one year postpartum, or a woman who has recently given birth and is not breastfeeding but still has a nutritional risk.
Be a child from birth to 5 years old.
2. Residency:
Be a resident of Tennessee.
3. Income:
Have a household gross income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level. You can find the current income guidelines for Tennessee here: https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/fhw/wic/redirect-wic/income-guidelines.html
4. Nutritional or Medical Risk:
Be determined by a health professional at a county health department to be at nutritional or medical risk. This could be due to anemia, low birth weight, inadequate diet, or other factors.
Additional Rules:
You must attend regular appointments at your local WIC clinic.
You must use the WIC benefits card to purchase only approved WIC foods.
You must live in the same county as your WIC clinic.

The Official WIC program is available to low to moderate income pregnant women, recently delivered women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk. Fathers can also bring their children to apply for WIC. You may apply for WIC if you are working or unemployed. Check the Income Guidelines Table to see if you are eligible for WIC.
