Ohio WIC Qualifications:

1. Categorical:
    Be pregnant or breastfeeding a baby under one year old.
    Have recently had a baby (within the last six months).
    Be an infant under five years old.

2. Residential:
    Be a resident of the State of Ohio.

3. Income:
    Meet the income guidelines set by the Ohio WIC program. This is based on your household size and is 185% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Additionally, you must be determined by health professionals to be at medical or nutritional risk. This assessment will be done at your WIC clinic appointment.

Initial Processing:

    Decision Timeline: Processing times can vary depending on the clinic and individual circumstances. It could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. You might receive a notification by phone, mail, or online portal.
    Outcome: You'll be notified of the decision - either approval or denial. If approved, you'll receive an EBT card to use at authorized WIC vendors.

Upon Approval:
    Orientation: Attend an orientation session to learn about program benefits, food packages, using the EBT card, and accessing additional services.
    Certification Period: Your initial certification period will likely be six months. You'll need to recertify regularly (usually every six months) to continue receiving benefits.
