is a special supplemental food program for pregnant, breastfeeding, and
post-partum women, infants, and children under five years of age.
WIC helps you and your baby get healthy foods and healthy advice in the first years of life.
The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program in California empower families with:
Nutrition education
Breastfeeding support
Healthy food packages
Healthcare and community referrals
WIC welcomes infants and children under 5, along with:
Pregnant women
Women breastfeeding babies under 1 year old
Women who recently gave birth or experienced pregnancy loss
Partners, grandparents, and foster parents of young children
Working families
Eligibility:
You may qualify if you receive Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, or CalFresh benefits.
Working
families, military families, migrant families,Foster parents and legal
guardians with a child under 5 years old are welcome to apply.
Woman, infant, or child must meet the income guidelines
Pregnant woman
Woman breastfeeding a baby under 1 year of age
Woman who had a baby or was pregnant in the past 6 months
Baby up to his or her first birthday
Child up to his or her fifth birthday
What to bring to your first appointment:
Everyone enrolling in WIC (including children under 5)
Identification for yourself and children
Proof of address (such as a utility bill)
Proof of income (paycheck stubs, tax return, etc.)
What to expect at your first appointment:
A warm welcome and friendly staff
A discussion about your family's needs and goals
A health screening (for children)
Personalized nutrition education
A tour of the WIC grocery package options
The Official WIC program is available to low to moderate income pregnant women, recently delivered women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk. Fathers can also bring their children to apply for WIC. You may apply for WIC if you are working or unemployed. Check the Income Guidelines Table to see if you are eligible for WIC. Hi I my wic appointment was yesterday at 2:45pm I didn’t know what time it was just the date and my phone ringer wasn’t working so I didn’t get the call I fixed the phone ringer I was wondering can you call me back early at 10am on Monday morning and I will answer for sure my baby is Sabrina Ocleary turning 1 years old this month, also you said you needed proof of income I do not receive paystubs I get direct deposit into my bank account but you are welcome to call my walmart work line I am a cashier at walmart part time and make $13 an hour
I am looking to reapply for wic. I recently moved to las Mesa with my husband and two kids. I just graduated chiropractic school but I am only working part time. And good assistance would help right now.
