Expand the use of the fruit and vegetable vouchers to allow its use at WIC approved Farmer's markets statewide.
Offer referrals to needed medical and social services in the community.
Support breastfeeding mothers with a medical necessity, or upon returning to work or school, by providing free hospital-grade, electric breast pumps.
This institution is an Equal Opportunity Provider.
Applying for WIC benefits
To apply, call for an appointment at a local WIC office.
WIC benefits are available to women who are pregnant, just had a baby, and to children under the age of five whose household meets income guidelines. The sooner you apply, the sooner you can receive benefits that will prepare you and your child for a healthy outcome. Women who apply early in their pregnancy are more likely to have a healthy baby. Children who stay on WIC until the age of five, are better prepared and more likely to succeed in school.
WIC Benefits
Meet with a nutritionist (infants and children are weighed, measured, and have an iron screening);
Get support for breastfeeding your baby;
Learn about eating healthy;
Receive a "food prescription" designed for your specific nutritional needs;
Receive checks redeemable for healthy foods at participating WIC vendor stores, and
Get referrals to helpful services for your family.
Fathers, grandparents, and foster parents can also apply for WIC to receive benefits for infants and children in their care.
Children who are WIC particiapants must accompany their parent/guardian to appointments for continued screenings for iron in the blood and growth development.
The Official WIC program is available to low to moderate income pregnant women, recently delivered women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk. Fathers can also bring their children to apply for WIC. You may apply for WIC if you are working or unemployed. Check the Income Guidelines Table to see if you are eligible for WIC. This website was created for women looking for WIC information and locations. We are also working towards adding other locations and services that may help out women.
